QuickBooksPayment Methods
Yes — in most cases. American Express is a supported payment method for QuickBooks bill payments in PayRewards, with one exception.
AMEX is unavailable when any bill in the batch uses Paper Check delivery
If one or more bills in your batch are set to Paper Check as the delivery method, American Express will not be available as the payment method for that batch.
What you can do
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| You want to use AMEX but a bill is set to Paper Check | Change the delivery method on that bill to ACH or Wire Transfer, then select AMEX as your payment method. |
| Paper Check is required for that vendor | Fund the batch with Visa, Mastercard, or ACH instead. |
| You want to use AMEX for some bills and Paper Check for others | Split into two batches — pay the Paper Check bills separately using a different payment method, then create a second batch for the remaining bills and pay with AMEX. |
PayRewards Points on AMEX payments
Adding PayRewards Points to a payment is optional. If you choose to add them, the selected earning structure applies to the entire batch — 1 point per $1 (1.75% fee) or 2 points per $1 (3.25% fee). This is set at checkout and cannot be varied per bill within the same batch.
Your AMEX card's own rewards program operates independently through your card issuer. PayRewards has no visibility into or control over those earnings.
